Mobile Thought Leaders events.
2018 kicked off with a bang in the rather cool and impressive home of Google Ireland!
A massive thank you to Antonio, our Google host and one of the key speakers , for organising the venue and providing us with a fun demo of Google Tilt Brush during the lunch break as well as his excellent presentation on Android Enterprise.
Kudos to our own Jason Bayton for his tireless work on AE (if you have not checked out his blog I’d recommend you click here) which was instrumental in Google offering to host us. Jason will share some of his own thoughts on the event later on.
My second major thanks goes to Jim Haviland, founder of the MTL, who flew over from Cleveland to share with us the key findings of the latest MTL member survey on the state of Enterprise Mobility in 2018. I think there was a lot of really interesting data regarding where members see the value of EM and what their priorities are in the next 12-24 months.
Jim also shared some information around how we are changing the format of the MTL and introducing the new Digital Transformation Thought Leaders (DXTL) brand as mobile, wearables, desktop OS, and IoT management are all converging. One of the key changes will be more but smaller surveys and an increased volume of online content in the form of video interviews, webinars etc. More detail on all of this will follow in a later post once we get details hammered out but its exciting.
After the lunch and once we had retrieved everyone from the Tilt Brush demo, or the view!, we had two excellent discussions on Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) and the Digital Workplace. It was great to see so many new and existing members get involved in the discussion and which I personally found very interesting. MTL at its core is all about this type of peer to peer discussion and information sharing so hopefully everyone else enjoyed the session as much as I did.
Finally we wrapped up with a great presentation from Antonio and Jason on AE and the capabilities Google have started bringing to the table for managing Android devices in enterprise use cases. I think its fair to say it was a robust session with a lot of input, challenges even!, from the floor but I think it was great to see this type of dialogue from end users to a vendor like google as it can only enhance the product offering. I also think Jason and Antonio did a great job in showing how far Android has come in terms of management capabilities and security and that it’s a viable option to consider for many business use cases.
It was yet another attendance record for us so its great to see the MTL events expanding and hopefully we can keep up the momentum through 2018 and beyond. Please do join either the Mobile Thought Leaders Ireland LinkedIn group and/or the Mobile Thought Leaders general LinkedIn group as we are hoping to push a lot more content through these channels.
